Privacy Policy for AI Chat Enhancer

Last updated: July 16, 2026

This privacy policy describes how AI Chat Enhancer ("the extension") handles user data. We believe in transparency and keeping your data under your control.

Data We Access and Why

1. AI Chat Page Content

Local Only The extension injects a sidebar into supported AI chat platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity). To provide its features—template insertion, conversation export, full-text search, and auto-save drafts—it reads the visible text content of the AI chat pages you are currently viewing.

This content is never sent to any external server. It is either:

2. Clipboard (Read)

Local Only When you purchase a Pro license, the extension can read your clipboard only when you explicitly click "Activate" and the extension is in an "awaiting activation" state. It reads the clipboard to detect whether you copied a license key, so you can paste it with one click.

The clipboard is read solely to check for a license key format. The content is not stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere. The extension never reads your clipboard at any other time or for any other purpose.

3. Chrome Storage (Local)

Local Only The extension uses Chrome's storage.local API to save the following data on your device:

This data stays on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the extension. You can also clear it at any time via Chrome's extension management page.

4. Payhip License Verification

Network When you activate a Pro license, the extension sends the license key you provided to Payhip's API (https://payhip.com/api/v2/license/verify) to verify its validity. This is a one-time request per activation.

Payhip processes this transaction per their own Privacy Policy. We do not share any other data with Payhip, and Payhip does not send us any personal information about you beyond the license validity status.

5. Optional API Calls (AI Prompt Optimizer)

Network If you enable the Pro "AI Prompt Optimizer" feature, the extension makes API calls to an AI provider. You must configure an API key (e.g., Anthropic API, DeepSeek API) in the extension's settings. The extension sends the text of your prompt to the configured API endpoint solely to optimize it. This is an optional Pro feature that is disabled by default.

The API provider processes this data per their own privacy policy. No data from other parts of the extension is included in these calls.

6. Context Menu (Right-Click)

Local Only The extension adds a right-click context menu item ("Save selection as template" / "Insert prompt template"). When you use it, the selected text from the page you're on is sent to the extension's service worker to be saved as a template or inserted. This text is stored locally and is not transmitted anywhere.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Data Storage and Retention

All local data is stored using the Chrome storage.local API, which is scoped to the extension and persists only on your device. Data is retained until you uninstall the extension or manually clear it. We have no servers that store your data, and we cannot access your local data.

Permissions Explained

Third-Party Services

The extension interacts with the following third-party services only when you explicitly use related features:
